LOT 10 - Antique brass/bronze steam engine bell in cast iron frame weighing approx. 275 lbs. Sent to the Tauro family in Niles in 1963 by a family member living in California. Has a number on the bell 2378. No clapper. Overall measures 32 in tall x 26 in wide. Bell itself is 17" across the bottom and 13" high. Includes copies of newspaper article about the bell. This may be the bell that came off of the Southern Pacific Railroad (SP) #2378 steam locomotive. This was a Class T-32 4-6-0 "Ten-Wheeler" steam locomotive. This engine was built in July 1919. It was constructed by the railroad's own Sacramento Shops in California. That's where the bell was shipped from.
